Summit Orthopedics Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a vital component of the recovery process from any injury or surgery. The Summit Orthopedics physical therapy team is an important extension of our care team in Summit County. Between the on-mountain emergency clinics at Keystone and Breckenridge Mountain Resorts and our new clinic on Main Street in Breckenridge our therapists are there for you when you need their help getting back to what you love. Our therapists themselves are active and they understand the importance of a body that keeps up with the demands of SummitCounty.

Accidents happen, especially during the busy ski and snowboard season and caring for Summit County’s visitors and residents as soon as possible is our top priority. During the ski and snowboard season our physical therapists work alongside the emergency care physicians in the on-mountain emergency clinics at Keystone and Breckenridge Mountain Resorts to help evaluate and care for injuries as soon as they happen. Between evaluation, bracing, follow-up visits for visitors and care plans, our physical therapists have every tool to help you get back on your feet at the earliest opportunity.

At our clinic on Main Street in Breckenridge, we are fully outfitted to see patients for their entire recovery or pre-operative journey. Our therapists are highly trained and skilled in manual therapy, functional training, and the use of the most cutting-edge equipment and techniques. Each patient receives a patient specific evaluation and program, coordinating care with our physicians or your own outside physician. Whether you are coming in for non-surgical treatment of an injury, need help preparing for an upcoming surgery or need post-surgical care, our therapists will come up with a plan tailored to you and your goals specifically.

Our team of physical therapists are local Summit County residents, you might catch them around town or on the trails when they’re not in clinic.

Kristina Koenig, PT, DPT

Kristina Koenig, PT, DPT attended Franklin Pierce University in Manchester, New Hampshire for her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree after she tore her ACL while skiing and was inspired by her excellent physical therapists. During her tenure at Franklin Pierce, she was the President of the Physical Therapy Student Association and Graduate Assistant under Dr. Joshua Cleland, PT, DPT, PhD. During this time, she achieved high regards and skilled training in manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and neuromuscular re-training techniques designed to help athletes return to sport healthy and strong. Kristina is originally from Tucson, AZ but was excited to move to Colorado to enjoy the adventures it offers.

When not at work, you will find Kristina exploring places near and far. She enjoys skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, biking, fishing, rafting and so much more. Most importantly, she dearly loves her two partners in crime (dogs), Nyla, a small blue heeler, and Anya, her Catahoula/Pitbull mix as well as her backyard chickens. She looks forward to helping Summit County for their return to and excellence in their sport.

You can find Summit Orthopedics Physical Therapy in three convenient locations throughout the year. We maintain a permanent clinic located on Main Street in Breckenridge that opened in April 2019 and two seasonal locations at Keystone and Breckenridge Mountain Resorts.

Our location on Main Street in Breckenridge is a fully equipped and newly renovated space where we will see patients year-round. Our therapists will run regular appointment schedules to best prepare patients for surgeries and help them rehabilitate from injuries or surgeries.

At the On-Mountain Emergency Medical Clinics at Keystone and Breckenridge Mountain Resorts, our physical therapists work alongside the Centura Health Emergency Physicians. This partnership enables each of these clinics to best care for their patients during the busy ski and snowboard seasons. Our therapists at these clinics will help perform evaluations, set patients up with braces for travel or follow-up care, and start the rehabilitation process at the site of injury.
